Christiana

                   Bio

Christiana is a digital artist based in Toronto. She is currently doing an undergraduate in media studies and studio art at the University of Toronto.

Her work can be described as surreal and adventurous. Her work often uses rich and vibrant colors. Her color palette takes inspiration from anime, cartoons, and African wax print fabric. The subject of her work is often black bodies in nature and space. Common themes in her work are escapism, fantasy, and the healing properties of nature.  She invites her audience to enter into her mind and to see the world through her eyes. She hopes to reach people who also feel out of place and looking for a home.

Lock & Key, or something to throw away

Lock and Key, or something to throw away is a collection of 5 collages hidden behind QR Codes. This project explores the contrast between a “throw away” item (QR codes) and personal stories and thoughts. The collages are paired with 5 phrases from letters I wrote to myself. A large part of this project is based on the viewer’s initiative, as a result of the collages not being readily available to the viewer.
